Best Skid Loader Attachments for Light Demolition

Skid loaders, skid steer, skid steer loaders - whatever you call them, they are mighty machines (albeit small) that are capable of a whole lot of jobs.
This is especially true when you equip them with thoughtfully chosen attachments that better prepare them for the job at hand.
Take light demolition, for instance. Got a shed you need to tear down? A small structure that’s been unoccupied for years?
You don’t need a whole wrecking crew, but you’ll fare a lot better if you outfit your skid steer with heavy-duty skid loader attachments to make the job easier.
That is, skid loader attachments like these.
Dozer Blades
This is about as self-explanatory as they come. Dozer blades are meant to push, cut, lift, dig, smash, you name it. They can do it.
Whether you need to break through a wall or take down a support beam, a skid loader with dozer blades is well-equipped for the job.
Then, after the work itself is done, you can use the dozer blades to consolidate the scrap pile, making it easier to dispatch it all.
Bucket Attachments
Bucket attachments are another great skid loader attachment for light demolition work. They might even be better than dozer blades as they can do all the former can do and then some.
Skid steer bucket attachments can be used to dig out the area around a structure’s foundation, making it easier to topple it. You can also use them to press down on a structure to bring it down - unlike most dozer blades.
Also, bucket attachments are arguably better than dozer blades when it comes to managing the scrap pile, too. Unlike dozer blades, buckets can also be filled with scrap and used to haul it away.
Grapple Buckets
One specialized type of bucket attachment for skid steers that has some applications that a regular bucket can’t fulfill is a grapple bucket.
Skid steer grapple buckets usually have slotted bottoms, open sides (that allow for debris to overhang them) and one to two manipulable tines over the bucket that can be used to secure a more dexterous grip on the debris.
Grapple buckets can also be used to topple small structures, but they’re better at hauling away scrap than regular buckets are because of their enhanced flexibility and manipulability.
Skid Steer Backhoe Attachments
Skid steer backhoe attachments like the Spartan Equipment EZ-Digger Backhoe can also be used for light demolition work.
They offer much of the same utility as a full-sized excavator, but in a much smaller package. The arm and bucket can be used to push or even pull down structures, and the bucket can be used to help move debris.
In some instances, these skid steer backhoe attachments may also be useful at helping to pull up or excavate footings or foundations so they can be removed.
Concrete Claws
Concrete claws offer somewhat more limited utility in this sphere than the other skid loader attachments mentioned here, but they are still highly utilitarian, and the lack of moving parts makes them about as tough as any on this list.
If you’re removing slabs of concrete during demolition, there’s no better attachment than this. Simply slide the claw under a slab and lift to break, then haul away the broken slabs. They leave minimal to no waste to clean up afterwards.
But on top of that, these concrete claws can also be used to break up or break down small structures, making them highly versatile skid steer attachments in such capacities.
Concrete Breakers
The most specialized skid loader attachment on this list, our concrete breakers are useful for light demolition work in which there is a need to break up and remove concrete.
Concrete breakers are ideal when you have to break up and remove a lot of concrete and are extremely powerful. Just make sure you have a bucket or a grapple bucket on hand to get rid of it all.
Tree and Post Pullers
These are also fairly specialized skid loader attachments, but if the demolition work requires you to pull up posts or piling, this can be a pretty useful attachment.
Definitely not the first skid loader attachment to have on hand if you need to accomplish demolition work, our tree and post puller attachments are also a lot more useful than some others.
Skid Loader Attachments That Will Never Surrender
Spartan Equipment skid loader attachments are made with pride in the United States and made with American steel only. They are also engineered for compatibility with most major makes and models of skid steer loaders.
They are supported by US-based customer service and we stand by what we sell. They are the industry’s toughest attachments and will Never Surrender, whether on the farm, road, demolition, or construction site.
And, with some of these skid steer attachments in your retinue, you’ll be better equipped to tackle the rigors of whatever the job site demands, especially if demolition is involved.
